Press Release
Community Town Hall Meeting on Local Healthcare – February 12, 2006
The Mendocino Coast Healthcare Alliance (MCHA) is pleased to announce the second in its series of town hall community meetings: “The Future of Our Health and Healthcare on the Coast: Preparing for Action,” which will be held on Sunday, February 12, from 7 to 9 pm, at the Fort Bragg Town Hall. This meeting continues the work of the successful and well-attended community discussion forum on health and healthcare which we held in December.
This meeting will begin by continuing the envisioning process started at the last town hall meeting. Then, having identified specific health and healthcare focus areas, we will prioritize them in preparation for creating an action plan.
The Mendocino Coast Healthcare Alliance is a grassroots community organization. The mission of the MCHA is to promote health and healing on the Mendocino Coast through community discussion, planning and action, in concert with health professionals, healthcare organizations, and government agencies. The vision of the MCHA is a local healthcare system which provides unsurpassed services responsive to the needs of people on the coast.
The three founders of the MCHA are all committed to local healthcare. Richard Louis Miller, MA, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and executive consultant in Fort Bragg. Paul D. Abramson, MD, practices as an emergency physician in Fort Bragg. Mark D. Kline, MD, is a psychiatrist practicing at the Mendocino Coast Clinic and privately in Mendocino.
“The town hall meeting is a classic American mechanism for creating community action. Our Fort Bragg town hall meetings provide an opportunity for us to think together, assess our needs, plan for our future and move from ideas into action” says Dr. Miller.
“This is an opportunity for citizens to participate in a process of envisioning, planning and action to promote health and healthcare on the coast” explains Dr. Kline.
The Mendocino Coast Healthcare Alliance invites and encourages all Coast community members to attend and participate.
